Accelerated Reader is implemented in some schools starting from Year 2. It is typically not used before this stage as it does not align with any phonics schemes. Its effectiveness increases when schools have a wide selection of books available at each level for students to choose from. The books included can be fiction, nonfiction, or part of reading schemes. The age guidance indicates interest level; therefore, it is generally advised that younger children do not read books intended for upper key stage 2, even if they are capable of reading at that level. When selecting books, consider both the age group accessing the books and the required reading level. Requests for books tailored to a specific age and reading level are accepted, as well as bulk orders for larger quantities of books.
